[Must Read] 5 Things You Must Know Before You Register For 2017 JAMB
any moment from now…
That's why we decided to drop this guidelines earlier so that those
writing JAMB wont make any iota of mistake.
You must make it oh whether you like it or not, lol!
The vision of this stupendous group is to make your dream, a reality
and we are committed to it!
1. WHY ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF
JAMB? Please before you register for 2017 jamb, cast away any iota of
fear of failure in you. Thought of failure is the beginning of
failure.
That you didn't score high last year doesn't mean you wont make it
this year. Believe in yourself & be optimistic that this gotta be your
last jamb. With
God and determination, all things are possible… FORGET THE PAST AND
FOCUS ON YOUR BRIGHT FUTURE.
2. CAREER CHOICE: Please I beg you with peculiar intensity of manner,
never allow anyone to choose your course of study, be it your parents
or close friends… You
know yourself and your ability. Ask yourself, do I love this course I
wanna put? Do I have the ability and all it takes
to study it? Do I have passion for it?
Make sure you answer those questions
yourself. And also consult your God.
Studying a course you don't have
passion for "may" lead to frustrations …
THINK ABOUT IT.
3. RIGHT SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: Make sure you choose the right subject
combinations. Someone got 280 in JAMB last year, reach her department
cut off mark but not admitted due to this error…
Consult your JAMB brochures or ask anybody studying that your dream
course to guide you…If your not informed, you "may" be deformed.
4. DOUBLE JAMB REGISTRATION: For the sake of your future, forget about
double registration.
Those caught last year got there JAMB results cancelled and were
banned from taking JAMB for 3 years… DO YOU WANNA RISK YOUR FUTURE?
THE CHOICE IS YOURS ANYWAY.
5. Exam Malpractice: In as much as we all have the freedom of choice,
but I will never advice any of my loved ones to start thinking of
malpractice now.
Expo can fail anytime but Brains never fail… IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN
YOURSELF, WHO WILL?
Good luck to you all that gotta
participate in 2017 UTME exam.

JAMB O' Level / UTME Subjects Requirements To Consider Before Choosing A Course In Universities
candidates are eagerly waiting for the announcement.
However, only a few have taken time to decide on the course of study
to apply for.
In deciding a course of study, there are few things you should bear in mind;
First, you need to consider if you have interest or academic aptitude
for the course you wish to apply for.
Another is, to verify if the course you intend to study is offered in
the institution you are
applying to. You are also to verify the accreditation status of that
course in such institution.
Most importantly, you need to verify if you meet the O'level and UTME
Subjects requirements for that particular course.
Each course of study has a specific O'level and UTME Subjects
requirements you must meet before you are admitted to study that
course. What works for an Engineering course won't work for a medical
course.
Many UTME Candidates often make the mistake of choosing a course that
they do not meet the requirements for during UTME
registration. Thereby disqualifying
themselves of admission from the onset. No school can admit you to
study a course you do not have the requirements for.
Even if your name appears on the admission list, you will be
disqualified during the screening, verification or clearance process.
Like I mentioned earlier, the UTME
registration for 2017 is yet to commence. If I were you, this is the
time I would use to make the decision concerning which course
of study to choose when the registration begins.
To help you in making that decision, you can make use of the Online
JAMB Brochure.
It will show you the courses available in each higher institution, the
O'level and UTME
Subject combination or requirements for the courses.
If you are still a bit confused about the O'level requirements of the
course you wish to study in any institution. You can post the
institution, course, your O'level subjects and UTME Subjects you
intend to sit for.
Enlightened Jovialportal gurus will help you determine if you are good
to go or not.
Goodluck!
JAMB Shuts Down Websites Having "jamb" Attached To Their Domain Names
Board (JAMB) through the National Information Technology Development
Agency (NITDA)
has shut down blogs and websites that have "jamb" attached to their
domain names in order to ensure they do not end up defrauding
unsuspecting individuals.
This was disclosed by one of the owners of the affected sites.
According to him, he received a mail from his web host concerning the
development.
The mail reads, "We got a complaint from JAMB through National
Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on
a number of domain names that are defrauding Nigerians using different
variant of their name (JAMB), your website was listed among them, and
we were instructed to investigate and suspend all the domain names
involved".
"We communicated the information to the Registrars of the domain names
in question
and requested them to kindly also
investigate and take the appropriate action".
"We understand that this domain names may not indulge in any
fraudulent activity.
However, we advice that you take down the contents of this site as
requested by NITDA to avoid immediate suspension of the
domain name".
"Please note that if this is not done within 12 hours of this report,
we will be forced to
suspend the domain".
Checks and observations reveals that such websites bearing "jamb" as
part of their domain names are no longer accessible.
JAMB 2017 Possible Registration / Exam Date Predictions On JovialPortal
post hoping to know the actual date or at least have a clue
to when the 2017 JAMB Registration will commence. Sorry to disappoint
you, there is no official date yet. I understand how
anxious you must be feeling right now.
The truth is, I equally feel same way too. I would have loved to tell
you again, "It will commence soon" but I am tired of using
that line over and over again. Unless of course the meaning of the
word "soon" has changed, but the last time I checked it is still
the same. I think I may not be able to use that word for a long time
because I have abused it (JAMB, see what you've caused).
The whole thing right now is kinda looking like a hide and seek game.
Many bloggers in the last few weeks have gone "prophetic" all in a bid
to predict when the 2017 JAMB registration will finally commence; some
even went as far as giving details on how the registration will go.
Only God knows where that vision came from. In all, JAMB has continued
to beat everyone to it. I would
have said that the current JAMB Boss is a pro in playing hide and seek
but that's none of my business (Disclaimer: I never said that).
I have decided to create room for
jovialportal gurus to offer their own predictions as to when the
registration will commence and if possible, the exam date. I have a
feeling that we have unknown prophets and prophetesses that may likely
nail this. Now, let the predictions begin!
P.S. Please do not take the predictions on this thread serious. Unless
the owner of the prediction confirms he/she got a whisper from JAMB
Boss.
Aregbesola’s intervention in education second to none – WAEC
Friday commended the Osun State
Government for boosting the education
system through the introduction of
innovative technological device.
The examination body rated Governor Rauf
Aregbesola's interventions in education as
"second to none" in Nigeria, especially in
the provision of massive infrastructure.
A statement by the Bureau of
Communication and Strategy, Office of the
Governor, signed by the Director, Mr. Semiu
Okanlawon, quoted the Head of the Nigeria
National Office of the council, Olutise Isaac
Adenipekun, as stating these when he led
the delegation of the national management
of WAEC to the Governor in Osogbo.
Adenipekun applauded Aregbesola for
ameliorating education with innovative
technologies.
Adenipekun said: "The ongoing revolution
in the infrastructural re-engineering of the
school complexes in the state of Osun has
also caught the attention of all stakeholders
in the education sector in Nigeria and
beyond.
"The immense contribution of the state
government in the development of
infrastructural facilities in schools, in
particular, the Mega Schools Project, is
remarkable.
"It is in fact second to none in Nigeria."
WAEC said Osun State has helped to mitigate
common difficulties usually encountered by
the students while writing Senior
Secondary School Certificate Examinations.
Adenipekun said Osun State has
contributed significantly towards
enhancing Information and Communication
Technology required in the education
sector, which, according to him, remains
the prerequisite to development of quality
education in the country.
Adenipekun, who recommended the Tablet
of Knowledge to other states of the
federation, said the initiative had
contributed towards educational
development.
He described the innovation as a tool of
educational revolution, breakthrough aimed
at enhancing and encouraging the process
of teaching and learning through the use of
innovative technology.
According to him, there is no doubt that the
state government had recorded huge
transformation in eradication of the rots in
education sector through the introduction
of the device.
He said: "We are here in recognition of the
state's contributions to technological
innovation and development to the
education sector in the state of Osun since
inception of the present government.
"We are particularly proud of the landmark
achievement and the major breakthrough
of the current administration in Osun, most
significantly in education sector, by the
introduction of the ground breaking 'Tablet
of Knowledge', also known as Opon Imo, to
students of the state at secondary level.
"As we commend the efforts of Mr.
Governor on the landmark achievement and
major breakthrough of his administration
in education, most importantly on the
widely applauded Tablet of Knowledge,
which had improved and encouraged
teaching and learning, we equally
recommend other states to key into this
initiative so as to improve the education
sector."
Adenipekun said the policies of the state
had been structured not only to revamp
education, but to make the state the
pacesetter in good governance.
Adenipekun expressed gratitude to the
state for its cooperation and support to the
West African Examinations Council in
Nigeria, which, according to him, had
assisted the organisation in the smooth
running of the Council's office in the state.
He said: "We must express our deep
appreciation to the government and good
people of the state of Osun for their
continuous cooperation and support to the
West African Examinations Council in
Nigeria, that has enhanced the smooth
running of the Council's office in the state.
"We also appreciate the cordial relationship
that has existed between the state of Osun
and our flagship organisation as we
express our gratitude to the government
and good people of the state for the
enormous contributions they have made to
the progress of WAEC and the development
of sound education by positively inspiring
in diverse ways the teeming youths of the
country.
"The enormous support of the State
Government has enabled us to provide
quality service to the people in diverse
ways."
Adenipekun said the Council is willing to
partner with other state governments to
ensure that it eradicates examinations
malpractices, which he described as a
menace to the education sector.
He said: "We are committed to improving
our service delivery to stakeholders and we
will continually ensure smooth conduct of
our examination (WAEC) in the state of
Osun.
"As part of our determined effort to impact
positively on the quality of youth
development and education in general, the
Council is ready to collaborate with states
Ministries of Education to create further
avenues for experience sharing with
teachers in the secondary schools in areas
of standardised testing and candidates/
students assessments."
Adenipekun noted that the Council was
ready to partner with the government in
the area of e-testing and e-assessment as
part of efforts to further recognise the
state's giant steps in introducing ICT to
teaching and learning at the pre-tertiary
levels.
He said: "We must re-emphasise our
commitment to the development of
education in Nigeria and we appreciate
your support to the Council in fulfilling its
mandate as an examining body."
Governor Aregbesola, who described the
Tablet of Knowledge as a panacea to
education revolution, said the state had
recorded national and international awards
on the initiative.
He said the state would continue to do the
needful in supporting education sector,
which he described as "bedrock of
development".
Commending WAEC for maintaining
education standards in the country,
Aregbesola said the examination body had
contributed tremendously in raising the
standards of education in the West African
sub-region.
He reassured the people of the state of his
administration's resolve to turn around the
fortune of the sector even in the face of the
current economic hardship.
Aregbesola said the state was ready to
collaborate with WAEC and other relevant
examination bodies to improve on the
standard and quality of education sector in
the state.
He said: "We are quite happy with the
steady and certain growth that our
intervention in education had recorded, just
as your visit would also encourage us on
how to double our efforts and collaborate
with your organisation to boost education
sector in the state.
"We are ready to partner with your
organisation in raising the quality of our
teachers towards the preparation for pre-
tertiary examinations."
Buhari is incapable, he should resign now - Nigerians react to president's vacation extension
vacation in the UK which also included
medical check-up and was expected back in
the country on Monday, January 6.
Since his trip to the UK, there have been
rumours that the president had passed
away although this was refuted by his
media aides.
Below are reactions of Nigerians, drawn
from various social media platforms.
Chukwuma Ibeh said: "If by Monday our
president is not back, they should declare
Tuesday and Wednesday public holidays so
that all of us will go and look for our
president.
Our president can't go to London and be
missing like that.... Let them open boarder,
we all go to London and look for him....
Which kind country, It started from, Missing
Chibok girls!..... Missing Certificate!... Missing
Budget!.... Missing Moon!.... And now,.. Huh,.
Missing President!!... What is all this.... Enuf is
Enuf... We are tired of all this missing
missing things in Nigeria."
Doris Anyanwu Buhari was of the opinion
that the President has "entered the "OTHER
ROOM" adding: "Osibanjo over to you"
Awele Precious said: "If he is not capable he
should resign"
Kefas John said: "What a joke!!! Can't they
mail him the result??? He extends his
vacation??? Ok...LOL So when is he coming
back??? cos you didn't mention"
Shedrach Da Monarch said: "Which kind
rough play be this if he is dead why not tell
us than bitting around the bush . Why do
the Hausa people love born to rule mentality
than betterment of Nigerians."
Ernest Ezechukwu said: "Buhari is seriously
sick and I don't think he can continue. The
best thing for him is to bow out and save
himself a disgrace."
Princess Gift said: "Where are those people
that trek for him when he won, I need them
to trek to London to find him is urgent
please."
Nzube Clement Ojukwu Another yar'dua's
game have start again oo. Then what's will
be the fate of 15,000 northern who were to
welcome him? ...
Blessman Onosetae said: "Buhari is dead...I
don't know who wrote that nonsense dey
called #letter... And am surprised some
people are still expecting d dead to leave u.s
mortuary to aso-rock"
Briggs Tamunosaki said: "APC we want our
President u guys should go and bring our
President back."
Jonas Johnkennedy said: "Lies upon lies. I
thought the wife said he didn't go to the
hospital."
Henry Nwoko said: "This is the time
National Assembly must as a matter of
urgency investigate the sources of that
letter. This investigation will take them to
the Hospital where Mr President is being
taken care of.
If he is in a state of not being able to
communicate,whether orally or in writing,
then that letter would be seen to have been
forged by some criminals at the corridors of
power. I must warn that National Assembly
must not accept that letter without
subjecting it to a thorough investigation."
Ifeanyi Igwe said:"Something is going on.
They should tell us the state of health of our
president. Anyway I wish him quick
recovery because I can't wish my follow
humanbing death. Because death or been
alive all is in the hand of the Lord. May God
see him through."
Christian Iyegbu said: "Our prayers are very
expensive considering the fact that a very
good number of Christian where slotted
under his control and nothing was done."
Hassan Akeem Olajuwon said: "Someone of
us need to die and make sacrifice for this
country and am ready, they can keep
fooling us saying all sort. Am not praying
for Buhari's death but our government is
based on lies, propaganda, corruption here
and there .
God please hear our cries because if tins
continue like this to make heaven will be
difficult for people, frustration everywhere.
God save us!"
Ifeanyi Igwe said: "Something is going on.
They should tell us the state of health of our
president. Anyway I wish him quick
recovery because I can't wish my follow
humanbing death. Because death or been
alive all is in the hand of the Lord. May God
see him through."
Femi Oriola said: "I keep telling President
Buhari's fans, that Buhari has escape the
country's affairs due to
incompetency...that's the main reason why
he decided to fake his death.
Osibanjo, is now the new Nigerian
President. So let's just adapt to the 2nd
version of "change"...that man done die,
let's forget about him."
Henry Nwoko said: "This is the time
National Assembly must as a matter of
urgency investigate the sources of that
letter. This investigation will take them to
the Hospital where Mr President is being
taken care of.
If he is in a state of not being able to
communicate,whether orally or in writing,
then that letter would be seen to have been
forged by some criminals at the corridors of
power.
I must warn that National Assembly must
not accept that letter without subjecting it
to a thorough investigation."
Kenneth Uc Okpokiri said: "Receive a series
of investigations. I wish him quick recovery.
But what is wrong in telling us the truth
that he needs more time to fully recuperate.
What investigations would take 10days to
retrieve in the UK? Even if he had a biopsy it
wouldn't take as long as it does in Nigeria."
Daniel Livingstrong said: "Just imagine the
kind of country we find ourselves. First, they
vehemently denied he was dead, that he
was on a ten day vacation, hale and hearty,
then later, they said he would be back
tomorrow, now because tomorrow is here,
they are now begging us to pray for his
health.
Our leaders are really our problem in this
country. Why can't they just tell us the truth,
why treat us like second class citizens in
our own country?"
Feyikemi Bolaji-Ebo said: "To make matter
worse our president can not still do a video
chat and tell us he is alive. We are not fools.
They will not succeed in all their plans."
Manfred Chimezie said: "Finally Yoruba has
taken over power, good news for them."
Scintillate Rich Ißeh said: "If buhari not
dead..he should have come back today.. and
silence all criticises that he is still alive.. my
dear if you think back.. this is how
#yaradua death start finally it was letter
confirm that he is dead.. let me fold my
arms and be watching .. it shall come to
pass"
Godwin Irimoen said: "Mr President I want
to see u back. U must complete Ur 4 years
whether u like it or not. No be power day
hungry u.lol"
UPDATE: Why Buhari extended vacation indefinitely
has written to the National Assembly, notifying the lawmakers of his
intention to
extend his vacation in the United Kingdom for medical reasons, the
Presidency has said.
Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, in a statement on Sunday,
announced the new development.
Mr. Adesina said the President
wrote the National Assembly "today, February 5, informing
of his desire to extend his leave in order to complete and receive the
results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors."
The President had planned to
return to Abuja this evening, but was advised to complete the test
cycle before returning, said Mr. Adesina.
Mr. Buhari had in January written the National Assembly, notifying the
lawmakers of his vacation and temporary transfer of power to Vice
President Yemi Osinbajo.
It is the third time Mr. Osinbajo will be leading Nigeria in acting
capacity since he and Mr. Buhari were inaugurated in May 2015.
In the initial notice to the National Assembly, Mr. Buhari was to be
away between January 23 and February 6.
"The notice has since been dispatched to the Senate President, and
Speaker, House
of Representatives," Mr. Adesina said of the new development.
The notice of extension came up amid rumours and anxiety over the
President's health.
Mr. Buhari had been rumoured to have died or been facing critical
health challenge, but the Presidency denied such rumours.
At different times, the Presidency released pictures of the President
in a bid to show he is hale in London.
However, in the new notice, the president did not state when he will
be returning to Nigeria to resume duty.
Mr. Adesina declined comment when asked when the President would
return to the country.

‘Why cyber security should be priortised in Nigeria’

Temitope Akinwumi, an engineer, is the Executive Vice President of Top Group Technologies in Maryland, United States of America. Her first degree was Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from University of District of Columbia in Washington DC, followed by a Masters in Software Engineering and another Masters in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance Policies both from University of Maryland, USA. In this online interview with ADEYEMI ADEPETUN, she spoke on the need for economies, including Nigeria to make cyber security a priority issue in governance. Excerpts….
Can we get a better understanding of what Cyber security is?
Cyber security is the process of applying security measures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, information and services. Cyber security assure the protection of assets, which includes data, equipment, buildings, and most importantly, humans. The goal of cyber security is to protect data both in transit and at rest.
Why is it necessary for a business?
Every business has sensitive information, digital equipment such as smart phones, laptops, desktops, servers that need to be protected from unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction. Through cybersecurity, we prevent theft of equipment and protect the data on that equipment, so there is no security breach that could allow hackers full access to both data and equipment.
Is there any conflict between emerging technologies such as social media and cyber security?
Absolutely, as companies get exposed to new technologies their level of exposure to cyber-attack increases, there is need to protect information vulnerable online if no measures are put in place as protection against cyber hackers, because most of the time hackers are online with the goal to find networks to launch attacks on.
Is there alternative to cyber security?
There is no alternative to cyber security, it's either your information is protected or it is not, there is no middle ground and when you are not cyber safe now, attack is inevitable.
Any benefit of cyber security to economic development?
The benefit of Cyber security to our economy is immense; it introduces holistic approach and model that showcase its benefits through countermeasures for addressing sophisticated threats and cyber-attacks that provide ways to reduce overall cost to an organization in addressing sophisticated threats that might otherwise have an adverse effect on the economy.
In specific, how can it help to reduce corruption in our society?
Persistent reports have shown foreign agents penetrating critical infrastructures, computer compromise facilitating industrial espionage, and faceless hackers emptying thousands of bank accounts, but with proper cybersecurity countermeasures in place, sensitive business information are protected, fraudulent data breach, financial data manipulation such as credit card, bank account, trade secrets, investment and stock market information are reduced.
Can you shed light on your job experience in the USA?
I am a software and cybersecurity engineer. My background includes 20 years' experience in the information technology industry. I have supported several government agencies and major corporations in the United States working on critical projects for many
years while utilizing wealth of experience supporting the information technology infrastructure.
Top Group Technologies is a group of companies located in Maryland, United States of America. We are focused on software development, ICT integration, cyber security and manpower training.
How can your firm help businesses to be cyber secured?
Our company can training your business on ways to be cyber safe including but are not limited to, access control measures, awareness training, audit and accountability, risk assessment, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and security assessment
and authorization.
How affordable can this be, especially for an economy that has larger numbers of SMEs?
The benefits of protecting valuable assets and sensitive business information against cyber-attack cannot be over emphasized, and the associated cost cannot be compared to the cost of damage assessment and recovery after an attack has occurred, in fact,
most organization may never recover from such attacks. Many victims has experienced loss of intellectual properties, business confidential information, stock market manipulation, disruption of services, reputational damages and lack of trust from customers.
Therefore, adoption of cyber security measure is essential to protect valuable assets against cyber-attack.
Can the competence gained from you be suitable to totally combat cyber threat now and in the future?
Yes, we provide different programs on how to combat cyber threat by putting countermeasures in place to increase the security of priceless assets, data and information through seminars, symposiums, conferences, and workshops.
